Susan Johnson, LCSW—I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, young adults, and families in Durham, NC.

I truly enjoy working with tweens, teens, and young adults as they navigate the challenges that can stand in the way of feeling confident, connected, and successful. Adolescence and young adulthood can be complicated seasons of life, and I feel honored to walk alongside clients during these important years. I am also passionate about helping families strengthen communication and supporting parents in better understanding and connecting with their children.

My goal is to provide thoughtful, effective, and evidence-based therapy that creates meaningful change without feeling overwhelming. I value practical, short-term approaches that help clients see progress and build skills they can use long after therapy ends.

For more than two decades, I have had the privilege of serving the Durham community. I specialize in working with anxiety, trauma-related challenges, ADHD, and relationship concerns. I also offer affirming care for LGBTQ+ individuals and provide support around parent-child relationships and parenting strategies.

I believe that when people learn to communicate openly and rely on one another in healthy ways, they grow more confident, resilient, and independent. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I strive to create a warm, supportive space where clients and families feel understood, respected, and empowered to move forward.
