Cynthia Sortisio, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist who co-owns Counseling Services, Inc, where she has worked since 1992. She enjoys working primarily with children and families, and she maintains a diverse caseload, working with children and teens with issues such as anxiety, ADHD, behavior problems, mood disorders, and adjustment disorders. She has special interests in developmental disabilities, especially autism spectrum disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and learning disabilities, and issues related to parenting and divorce. Specific services include individual psychotherapy, reunification therapy, psycho-educational testing, parent and co-parent consultation, and forensic services. Dr. Sortisio is an experienced custody and parental competency evaluator. She has served as a guardian ad litem and parenting coordinator.
Dr. Sortisio is licensed in North Carolina as a psychologist and health services provider. She is a member of the North Carolina Psychological Association, the American Psychological Association, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. She previously served as president of the board of the Center for Cooperative Parenting. She enjoys the opportunity to offer training to new parenting coordinators, as well as more advanced topics to experienced parenting coordinators.
Dr. Sortisio received her BA from the University of Virginia in 1986 and her PhD from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1995. She completed her clinical internship at Georgetown University Child Development Center in 1991.
