Jamie Olson Workman, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist who provides therapeutic services for children, adolescents, and adults in individual, family, and couples settings. Dr. Workman also conducts psychological evaluations for children and adults seeking diagnostic clarity, prompt report-writing, and thorough recommendations. Dr. Workman has an eclectic theoretical orientation based strongly in cognitive-behavioral theory. Her therapy often follows a paradigm consistent with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Overall, she emphasizes research-based techniques with flexibility related to each client’s presenting difficulties. She uses a client-focused framework and strives to help each client achieve their personal goals and make progress in the areas that are most important to them. 

Evaluations conducted by Dr. Workman most often include testing for children and adults assessing a variety of presenting problems, such as attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, learning disorders, early kindergarten placement, intellectual disabilities, personality structure, and disability qualification. Dr. Workman’s therapeutic focus also addresses multiple concerns including but not limited to anxiety, depression, adjustment problems, attention problems, behavior problems, parent training, grief, relationship difficulties, and divorce and co-parenting. 

Dr. Workman earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. During graduate school, Dr. Workman conducted research projects focusing on individuals’ thought processes related to anxiety. Her dissertation examined child social anxiety and the importance of parental behaviors and teacher-child relationships. Through her education and practical experience, Dr. Workman has had the opportunity to work with people suffering from varied diagnoses and severity. The majority of her experience has been in a general outpatient setting conducting therapy and testing with adults and children. 

Dr. Workman is a licensed Psychologist accredited by the North Carolina Psychology Board. She is also a member of the American Psychological Association and the North Carolina Psychological Association.
